Download Dish—Wonderland Party

I could not resist the Wonderland Party Ensemble (AU/NZ) for my daughter's seventh birthday. I only officially started planning about a week and a half before, but that’s the beauty of My Digital Studio, everything came together so quickly!

Here’s what I made with the ensemble and some coordinating traditional products.

1. Invitations:

2. Decorations:

  • Banners

  • Signs

  • Circle streamers and confetti (Inspired by the embellishment in the download.)

3. Party favors:

  • Bag

  • Notebook

  • Key chain

  • Lip balm

  • Deck of cards

4. Food:

  • Cupcake toppers

  • Flags for the straws and lid covers for the drink jars

  • My sister made those tarts with the heart-shaped strawberries. (Get it . . . Queen of Hearts?) They were so delicious!

My daughter was so happy with how everything came together which made me happy to be her mom and grateful for My Digital Studio. I have to give a shout out to my other sister for these awesome pictures. And to my mom who hosted the party and helped out with everything. (I have the BEST family!)

At the party we:

  • Had a tea party.

  • Went on a treasure hunt and pretended to follow Alice through Wonderland.

  • Played croquet.

  • Colored pictures.

  • Watched Jenna open her presents.

  • Ate cupcakes and fruit tarts.

I forgot to take step-by-step photos of each project, but I have plans to show you each project in more detail in upcoming posts. What would you like to learn more about?

Creating cards for you!

Stampin' Up! will be using cool new cases to package our wood-mount stamps beginning 5/31 with the launch of the 2013-2014 Annual Catalog.  Empty cases will be available for purchase as well and have a variety of storage uses (loved the marker storage idea in the video).  The new cases integrate beautifully with our clear-mount cases.  All your stamps can be one big happy (and organized) family.  Watch the video for an "up close and personal" look at the new cases as well as a sneak peek of a new stamp set.

What does it all mean???

by ktstamps, 5:27 AM

Seeing more clearly Acrylic stamps, clear stamps, photopolymer stamps... what exactly does it all mean? Today we explain the differences between these materials to help you make sure you get the quality you're paying for!

If you've ever bought a clear stamp only to find that after a few impressions it no longer sticks properly to your acrylic block, chances are you've bought a stamp made from molded silicon. These stamps are generally made abroad using molding silicon material to imitate photo-polymer. Why do they want to imitate photo-polymer? Read on!

Silicon is incredibly cheap, which is great for manufacturers but which doesn't necessarily result in the product that you, the paying customer, wants! If a molded silicon stamp can't adhere to your acrylic block and transfer ink correctly, then it ain't a stamp!

Silicon is great for sealing your bathtub But ink transfer? Photopolymer stamps are basically 2nd generation from digital art, whereas molded-silicon stamps are generally 4th or 5th generation from digital art. Less steps between the digital art and the finished stamps means higher resolution.

So why do molded silicon stamp manufacturers try to make their stamps look like photo-polymer ? Because stamp photo-polymer is specifically designed and engineered for ink transfer, period! Silicon is great for sealing your bathtub, but ink transfer? If you've ever tried to paint your wall at the edge of your bathtub or sink which has been sealed by silicon, then you'll know what we're talking about!

So how can you be sure that you're spending your precious dollars on stamps which are going to go the distance, which are going to correctly adhere and ink during their lifetime and which you wouldn't be ashamed to swap with another stamper?

The answer is obvious. Make sure your stamps are made from photo-polymer. If it is, it'll be marked on the packaging. If the stamps are extremely difficult to remove from the clear backing - chances are they are silicone and not photopolymer.

STAMPAVIE photopolymer clear stamps are all manufactured in the USA using highest quality photopolymer materials and processes based on nearly 30 years of experience.

Remember, if you see imported, non-photopolymer stamps selling for prices similar to photopolymer stamps, you're paying way too much!

Happy stamping!

10 items with ludicrous markups

by ktstamps, 3:53 AM
Found this article about the 10 items with the biggest mark-up.

 8. Greeting cards: 200 percent markup

The best greeting cards anyone ever keeps, are those made by hand. Either the crayon scribble of a child or a heartfelt note by a friend, are more likely to be kept forever than a generic card bought at the grocery store for $2 or $4.

So why do people pay the 200 percent markup that stores put on greeting cards? For the convenience. Buying that mass-produced card is a lot easier than making one at home. If you don't want to draw your own card, then print one out online. Paper and ink cost money, but printing them at home for virtually nothing beats paying $4 at the store.

This really opened my eyes about how important it is for me to get my LOVE of craft out to the PUBLIC!   Here is the link to read about the other items.

Cards Too Plain???

by ktstamps, 3:13 PM
Have you ever made a card, and in the end found that it was just too plain- too simple? That it was lacking and needed.....something?
