A card for my nephew

by ktstamps, 2:54 PM

I made this card for my nephew. This is a Thomas Kinkade stamp called it doesn’t get much better. I love to fish…this has been a way that I can be on the water, relax, and when a fish is on-get such an adrenaline rush! I live for that rush when I am fishing! But then it’s so easy for me to go back to that relax state where being on the water sooths my soul!

I made this card with a technique called Pastel Detailing and Cracked Glass. I love this picture…it reminds me of what the streams/lakes use to be in Montana in the 60’s. Where I use to put a marshmallow on my hook and pull up trout for dinner. OH!!!! How I loved trout!

Thank you for sharing this walk down memory lane with me! kt

I had to use my new lighting system for this card. I really like this card. It’s just simple but subtle. I used a new technique from the TJ newsletter called the Magic Pattern. (If you don’t get the Technique Junkies Newsletter you are missing out. OMG! It has some great techniques and some wonderful artists who create these fabulous techniques! I am so glad I belong to this group. Please visit the website and see what I am talking about! You can click here for the link.

I hope you can see that words are in the background of the image and I used my Cuttlebug to create words for the background layer. When the light hits it at the right angle, you can see all the words behind the image. That is what makes it “MAGIC!”

Stamps: Bloomin’ Beautiful, Tres Chic
C/S: Whisper White, So Saffron, Pretty in Pink, Watercolor paper, Brocade Blue
Ink: Versa Mark, Basic Black
Accents: Cuttlebug, clear embossing powder, watercolor crayons, light pink gingham ribbon

Like my new toy!

I got this OBN lighting equipment for taking better pictures in December…I just pulled it out today! OK, OK…again with that “P” word. So I decided to give it a try. I don’t think it’s the lighting that I have the problem with…I think it’s the photographer. I can’t not take a clear picture…Does anyone have any helpful tips? If so, please let me know! Thank you!

Procrastination

by ktstamps, 9:19 PM
Lately I have set aside time to stamp! Long periods of time but I get caught up in reading blogs, buying stamps, and well my favorite “P” word…procrastination! I can’t believe what I put in my way so I can’t stamp. I use reams of paper to copy cards, templates, classes but I want to spend more time creating! I wonder why I get in my own way! WOW! I can sit in front of this computer for hours on end and just read. It amazes me that the internet, blogs, etc are so interesting! (Really, I love the idea of surfing the net to find new ideas, read about people, and find classes I would like to have for my customers!) Tonight I made two cards. One is my favorite card I have every seen…this was a must to create! I just laugh at the thought of how easy it is but how funny it is! (Yes, I am smiling! :)! )
Here is my cased card! I love him! Look at that red nose. It reminds me of all the colds, stuffy noses, runny noses…OK, you get the message! (Yes, I am still smiling!)
I found this card on Dawn’s blog with a tutorial of how to create this card. She has a great blog and I find her so creative, warm, and someone I admire! Thank you Dawn for sharing your creative ideas!

I went over to Donna's to stamp for the day. I enjoy spending time with her. She is so kind, caring, warm, and is open to sharing ideas with me! Today one of the things I wanted to accomplish is how to make a banner. Well...this darn VISTA program got in the way. WE tried and tried but finally, Donna made another great banner for me! ONE DAY....I will be able to get this down and create my own banners. But until that day, I will continue to thank Donna for her help and support!

Well...the better team won

Nerves on end!!!

by ktstamps, 5:57 PM
This year I have had the opportunity to coach two basketball teams. One was 6th grade and the other was 7th grade. The 6th grade went undefeated until our play-off game and they were deer in the headlights. Nothing went into the basket and before we know it we were down by more than 10. We were the team to beat but sports just like life can get in your way. The girls started being mad at each other, mad they didn’t get more playing time, and frustrated they didn’t win. I had a hard time that they didn’t win but I have realized that losing is a great way to find out how badly you want something.

Tonight the 7th grade girls play for the championship! They are a team that should have lost but play with great heart. When they want something…they go for it! When they played in the semi-finals, they beat an incredible team. They fought till the end and left it all out on the court! I love watching girls play like that!

So, today I have been very nervous, I spent a lot of time stamping. I am about an hour away from the tip off and my stomach is doing somersaults! If my stomach is like this…I think about the girls. I just want the girls to play hard, not give up, leave it on the court, and believe in each other and themselves!

Here’s to a great game for the 7th grade girl’s team! I'll let you know how we do tonight! Go Lions!

One of those days

by ktstamps, 6:57 PM
The last few days, I have been organizing myself for 3 swaps. I usually don’t do swaps but I decided I wanted to go for new ideas for the Occasions mini collections. So I joined two of Occasions and a black and white swap. OMG! It has been a nightmare. I had a great idea and got 17 starts of a card front together…it was time consuming AND THEN my creative juices decided to go on a very long lunch break. OMG! I couldn’t figure out how I wanted these pieces to fit on the card. I thought I had a brilliant idea but it didn’t even come close to working. You know those days, you have all the c/s stamped, pieces cut already to assemble because your mind’s eye has that perfect picture…ALL THREE SWAPS I HAD TO DO OVER TWO TIMES!!!! WHAT was I thinking?
I love taking my craft ink pads, stamping the image, and then put clear embossing powder on the top. As I am getting older, I really have to see what I am stamping. :) I also like to ink my stamps with versa mark and stamp again on any classic ink pad, then add clear embossing powder. I love my cards to shine! SO, here is one of my finished cards. I really like it and I am so glad to share this with you. Hope you had a great Valentine’s Day. kt
