Blogging!

by ktstamps, 1:30 PM

I am taking this Blogger’s boot camp. I have to tell you…I don’t understand what I am learning. OMG! I thought I was pretty competent with the essential computer skills but I STAND before you…NOT EVEN CLOSE! It’s so over my head I have to have friends come over and explain it to me! I thought I would get it right away….NOT! I was hoping to change over to type pad…but I can’t do it yet. I have been saving some post for the new blog site. Well…maybe another day!

Here are my cards I have worked on!

This is one of my favorit cards. I love simple and elegant cards. This fits the bill.

Card stock: Whisper White and Groovy Guava
Stamp set: Bloomin Beautiful and Full of life (Occasions mini collections)
Ink: Groovy Guava and Wild Wasabi
Accessories: Double-Stitched Groovy Guava Ribbon

This is a visor card. If you move the sides of the card back and forth-the saying appears or disappears.

Card stock: Certainly Celery, Basic Black, So Saffron DSP
Stamp Set: Fresh Cuts
Ink: Craft Black, Certainly Celery, Rose Red, Bashful Blue, So Saffron
Accessories: Clear embossing powder, Stipple brushes, Certainly Celery and Basic Black ¼” grosgrain ribbon

Isn’t this BEAUTIFUL!

by ktstamps, 7:55 PM

This was my favorite plant at Butterfly House in Palm Springs. I loved going into the house to sit amongst this plants. I checked out this plant every day I worked! It’s called a Pigeon Berry Golden Dewdrop! Look at the way the sun hits the plant…I am so tired of this rain in WA. My heart is SCREAMING for some sunshine! Let the sun shine!

I got my new stamp set in the mail today!

by ktstamps, 6:45 PM

I didn’t know if I would like this set but I have fallin’ in love with Fresh cuts by Stampin’ Up. I had to play a little to see where my mojo would take me! So I just got this idea to do the technique called “Pulled Pastels”. Then I took it one more step and embossed the versa-mark with clear powder to highlight more of the pulled the chalk. This was just my first try. I love the colors. Hope you like it!

altered clipboard for coaches

by ktstamps, 2:13 PM

This year I decided to reward my assistant coaches with a gift for helping me out during basketball season. The best idea I came up with is an altered 9x9 clipboard. It was an idea I saw last year from Donna but I thought I would give it away to 3 very special people. Here what I came up with. I think it is a great gift.

I am back and ready to roll!

by ktstamps, 4:30 PM

As many of you know, I have taken a year off teaching and I am working at Starbucks. This has always been a dream of mine and I have enjoyed living my dream. (I do miss my wonderful acrylic nails!) I have applied for a sabbatical to work at the Living Desert in Palm Springs, CA area. OMG! This all came true in April. I transferred to Starbuck’s in PS and volunteer at the Living Desert in the Butterfly house.
Have you ever had all the playing cards fall in your favor without many obstacles to get in the way! WELL…this happened to me. School paid for a month of my housing, I transferred to the Downtown Starbuck store, and I worked at the Living Desert. I was and still am on cloud nine. I feel I have created a great reality!
I fell in love with the Starbuck store…the manager and asst. manager were the best! I got along sooo well with them. I call them great friends and soul mates. I miss both of them every day!
IT WAS HOT! I love the sun. The temperature was between 85-100 every day! (I come back to Washington State; it has rained over 8 days out of the 10 I have been home. My body is sooo cold that I am still wearing flannel P.J.’s and I have flannel sheets on my bed!)
My heart could live their all year around! Enough of that! My knees loved the warm weather too!
I volunteered at the butterfly house. When you walk into this building and see all these beautiful creatures flying around, you know what heaven is like.

You can hold the butterflies but I have found the secret to them landing on you or allowing you to pick them up is inner peace. I would leave the fast pace of Starbucks and walk into heaven. All your cares go away and you get to be with these gentle, serene beings that hatch and live up to two weeks. WOW! How great is that!!!
