TTDT with Sympathy!

Creating a sympathy card using the Stampin' Up Layered Floral 3D Embossing Folder can be a touching way to convey your condolences. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you craft a beautiful and heartfelt sympathy card:

Bamboo Beauty Clear Block Technique




  

Did you know that you can create a beautiful card idea using your clear blocks and ink pads? This ‘Clear Block Stampin’ technique is easy to learn and can be applied using your favorite stamp sets and ink colors. Each time you try this technique you will get a different clear block result!

 

This card idea uses the Bamboo Beauty stamp set.




 

Supplies:

· Stamp Sets – Bamboo Beauty (155478); Color & Contour (154994)

· Card Stock – Pear Pizzazz (131201); Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper (149612); Night of Navy (100867)

· Stamp Pads – Pear Pizzazz (147104); Soft Succulent (155778); Garden Green (147089); Night of Navy (147110)

· Misc. – Stampin’ Seal (152813); Clear Block (117147); Multipurpose Liquid Glue (110755); Water Painters (151298)

 

Measurements:

· Pear Pizzazz 8 ½” x 5 ½”

· Fluid 100 3” x 5 ½”

· Night of Navy (2) ¼” x 5 ½”

Instructions:

1. Fold Pear Pizzazz card stock in half and score to create a card base.

2. Add water to the barrel of the Medium Water Painter.

3. Ink Clear Block B using Soft Succulent Ink. Add a drop of water from Water Painter and swish water around on the block. Stamp into Fluid 100 layer.



4. Repeat step 2 using Pear Pizzazz and Garden Green ink, stamping each block to the right (create a row). 




5. Ink Bamboo stamp using Night of Navy ink and stamp 1 image onto each ink color.

6. Ink splatter stamp from Color & Contour stamp set using Night of Navy ink, stamp off onto scrap paper first, then stamp onto bamboo images. 



7. Ink phrase using Night of Navy ink and stamp to the right of the bamboo images.

8. Using Multipurpose Liquid Glue, adhere Night of Navy strips to the back of the Fluid 100 layer.

9. Using Stampin’ Seal, adhere the Fluid 100 layer to the card front to complete the card.

Technique: Poppin’ Soft Pastels

Supplies:

  • Stamp Set of Choice - Amazing Silhouettes (157814), Encircled in Friendship (155408)
  • Versamark Ink (102283)
  • Coastal Cabana Ink (147097)
  • Basic White Cardstock [CS] (159276)
  • Soft Pastels (154585)
  • Take Your Pick - Spatula tip (144107)
  • Brushed Brass Butterflies (158136) 
  • Silicone Craft Sheet (127853)
  • Sponge daubers (133773) or Q-tip
  • Soft tissue

 

For Sample Card:

Stamp Sets – Amazing Silhouettes, Encircled in Friendship 

Ink – Versamark, Coastal Cabana

Paper (including cutting dimensions) – Basic White Cardstock  8 ½” x 5 ½”

Accessories – Brushed Brass Butterflies, Soft Pastels - (Granny Apple Green and Coastal Cabana), Take Your Pick - Spatula tip, Silicone Craft Sheet

 

Instructions:

1. Fold cardstock in half to form a card base.

2. Stamp image on cardstock in an upper left area with Versamark ink.

3. Scrape a little pile of Granny Apple Green and a little pile of Coastal Cabana chalk onto the craft sheet with the spatula end of the Take Your Pick tool.

4. Use a sponge dauber to burnish the chalk into the Versamark ink.

5. Use a tissue to remove excess chalk especially on the uninked areas of the cardstock.

6. Stamp greeting in the lower right corner with Coastal Cabana ink.

7. Add one small and one large Brushed Brass butterfly to the card front.

Smackin Acetate

Smackin' Acetate Technique



Supplies: 
  • Spitzer or Spray Bottle
  • Water-based Marker
  • Cardstock
  • Acetate or a window Sheet


Step One
  • Scribble marker directly onto the Window Sheet/Acetate
  • Add the colors you want, trying not to overlap colors
  • Colors may look light with some of the basic white c/s showing
  • Marker colors are: Polished Pink, Soft Succulent, and Bumble Bee

Step Two
  • Spritz or spray water on the window sheet/acetate 
  • This will moisten and mix the colors


Step Three
  • Smack cardstock onto the wet window sheet/acetate


Step Four
  • Lift the cardstock off the window sheet/acetate



Step Five
  • Let the cardstock dry thoroughly and assemble your card 


Here is what you need to put your card together


Carstock:
  • 4 1/4" x 11" Basic White scored at 5 1/2
  •  4" x 5 1/4" Soft Succulence
  • Basic White scraps
Die-cuts:
  • Taylor Made Tag(#2 of 45 degree tags with #1 being the smallest
  • Penned Flower (Cut 2)
Stamp Set:
  • Artistically Inked (Thanks sentiment)
Ink:
  • Memento
  • Polished Pink
Accessories:
  • Blending Brushes
  • Tombo Glue
  • Pale Papaya Ribbon
  • Matte Black Dots
  • Dimensionals
Putting the card together:
  • Take out your Stampin Emboss & Cut machine.  Die cut the two flower and the tag in Basic White c/s
  • Stamp THANKS on the tag in Memento ink
  • Take a blending brush and brush the edges of tag in Polished Pink
  • Cut about 8" of ribbon.  Threadn both ends through the tag and loop it through the ribbon.   Add 6-8 dimensionals to the back of the tag
  • Adhere Soft Succulent to the basic white base, then add your dried Smackin Acetate to the top
  • Add Tombo liquid glue to the flowers.  (Use a light touch on this glue)
  • Position and adhere flowers to the center of card
  • Adhere the tag in the center of both flowers
  • Add 3 Matted Black Dots to the card
  • Viola - card complete!
